Please obey all area rules regarding on/off-leash areas; dogs must always be under human control; note designated areas where dogs may be; be mindful of dog interactions and ask first; bring extra waste bags and pick up waste - also be prepared to take waste bags with you if no waste stations are present; always bring enough water for your dog; obey rules on the maximum number of dogs per person; leave no trash or trace you were there; be mindful of food, alcohol and smoking restrictions.  

Check ahead for changing policies.

Southport Park - 170 Old Post Rd, Southport

Walking trails in the heart of Southport Village. Managed by the Sasquanaug Association. More info at sasquanaug.org. Designated area for dog walking, dogs must be leashed. No fenced areas. Leave no trace.  No alcohol/smoking. Waste station.  Open daily dawn to dusk, free parking.  

Lake Mohegan - 960 Morehouse Hwy, Fairfield

Not a dog park but dog-friendly.  Off-leash allowed but check posted rules and stay on trails.  Trails that surround the lake and waterfall/creek (the Cascades) appear best if you want to go off-leash.  Managed by the Fairfield Conservation Commission (open space) and the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Commission (swimming area.) There’s 170.4 acres of open space. Please leash within 100 feet of the parking and picnic areas and other designated areas.  Open daily dawn to dusk, free parking.  

Fairfield Beaches

Dogs and horses accompanied by a person responsible for them are permitted to enter any town beach from October 1 to March 31. At all other times dogs and horses are forbidden, including in parking areas.  Please check rules for each beach area.  Open daily dawn to dusk, free parking in off season. 

Winslow Park - 44 Compo Rd North, Westport

Easton Dog Park - 360 Sport Hill Rd, Easton

Compo Dog Beach - 60 Compo Beach Rd, Westport

More details to come. Dog friendly and not officially a dog park.

    Please obey all area rules regarding leashing; dogs must always be under human control; note designated areas where dogs may be; be mindful of dog interactions and ask first; walk your dog before entering the establishment to limit pet waste while on premises; bring extra waste bags and pick up waste - be prepared to store and take waste bags with you; always bring enough water for your dog and a collapsible bowl; obey rules on the maximum number of dogs per person; be mindful of food shares with your dog (many human foods are toxic to dogs), and be mindful of your own alcohol consumption when attending to your bff; take care about dog proximity to table and  appropriateness of on-lap seating.
